The attacking midfielder who will turn 18 years next month was very close to signing a deal with Norwegian Tipliga bound Honefoss BK before he opted for a better deal with the Swiss outfit.
Rahu who touched down on Gambian soil on Tuesday for the Muslim feast of Tobaski told Gambia Sports Online Editor Baboucarr Camara in a telephone interview that he is very happy that his search for a new club is finally over after opting to leave Algerian Second Division side MC Saida in the summer.
“I am very happy that I have finally settled for a new club after I left Saida in the summer, I was very close to signing for Honefoss before Neuchatel came up at the last minute. They offered a four year deal with better terms than what Honefoss offered.
“I will turn 18 in December so I came to the Gambia for a little break until the 2nd of January when I will return to prepare for the second round of the league. I am very pleased because Neuchatel is a big club in Switzerland and players like Henri Camara and Pap Bouba Diop both came through the club’s ranks,” Rahu said.
Neuchatel Xamax currently lie third on the ten team Swiss Super Liga table with twenty six points from sixteen games, nine points adrift of leaders Young Boys of Byrne.
